This solidus is a very rare issue and a very nice specimen for the type. It is well centered with excellent obverse details and lustrous fields. Refer to NAC auction 120 Lot 904 for a comparable, slightly better specimen.
Obv: Diademed bust of Valentinian III left, wearing consular robes and holding mappa and cruciform sceptre with the legend D N PLA VALENTINIANVS P F AVG
Rev: Valentinian III in consular robes, enthroned facing, feet on stool, holding mappa and cruciform sceptre with the legend VOT X MVLT XX and mint mark R – V in field and COMOB in exergue
